What are IDIOMS?

Formal definition:
An idiom is a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words.
In simple words, an idiom is a group of words that mean something different to the literal words used.


Examples:
Once in a blue moon  → rarely
We go out to eat once in a blue moon.
It does not mean → one time you saw a blue moon

You’re the bees knees  → you are cool / the best
What? You packed me lunch? Oh man, you’re the bees knees.
It does not mean = ….you’re the knees of bees
